Video: The One About the Night Before Christmas

/ /

For many years, one of my favorite traditions was preparing food for the kids who didn’t have much to eat on Christmas Eve. Here’s my 3minute memoir with a twist on The Night Before Christmas story.

Giving treats to carollers on Christmas Eve was one of my favorite family rituals.

Merry Christmas everyone! I thought I’d make my post be one that celebrated a family tradition I sorely miss.

While growing up in the Philippines, we had a tradition of preparing Christmas bags for the children in our neighborhood. Many kids knocked on our door, asking for spare change just so they could buy something to eat. So we decided to prepare juice boxes and sandwiches on Christmas Eve. Word got around fast, and year after year we had to cater to more kids (and the occasional grownup). I remember we made about 150 sandwiches at one time. Why not start a new Christmas tradition — or rekindle an old one?
